  1. I doubt that we would be calling New York New Amsterdam if the British had won the Revolutionary War, since it was the British that named it New York.

  2. Harold-
I know you can’t see me, but if you could you’d see how profusely I’m blushing. This is what I get for relying on my memories of middle school history to be clever.
    Thanks for pointing it out!

  3. I went with all the ones I thought should have bigger articles, given their relative importance to me. I scored 20%.

  4. 3/10. I tried to go with the general stupidity of humankind, but it failed me here. Some articles that SHOULD have been longer than the others actually WERE longer! Who would have guessed?

  5. 5/10 correct. I should have thought my answers through.

  6. 90%
    i am unstoppable.

  7. 50%.

I forgot about the Reagan/Star Wars thing. I’m so ashamed.

  8. 6/10 not too bad,

  9. 60%!~

was surprised i got the charles-diana one wrong.

  10. 60%, batman, diana, reagan and london tripped me up. well okay. I tripped myself. but like my friend janet used to say (before she changed her name) — if you trip, just repeat it the same way but to the other side, and turn it into a danc step. sound advice I’ve followed since high school. enjoyed the column and the quiz but now I’ve got to go get something done.
