I like quarters. I’m sure it has something to do with the fact that I spent so many of them as a teenager trying to beat Donkey Kong. (Heck, I think I financed the Nintendo Corporation quarter-by-quarter in 1983.) Since 1999, the U.S. Mint’s state quarter series has made the 25-cent piece worth examining again.
Some of them are easy to identify. The peach and the outline of the state’s borders makes the Georgia quarter easy to spot, even with all the dates and text removed. Not all of them are as easy to distinguish, however, which you’ll learn by trying to identify each of the $5 worth of state quarters in this nifty quiz. It’s free and, better yet, you don’t have to dodge any flaming barrels. Woohoo!
60%, because most were just random guesses. With two little kids around, I never get to keep quarters for any length of time!

Well, there are a lot more quarters circulating now that Jason took his jar of coins to the bank.

Bill T,
Yeah, I love that the Old Man no longer exists (it feel a few years ago) but that it is still on all our state issued things (liscence, plates, quarters, highway signs, state vehicles, etc.) but I guess its all we have to show off. There isn’t much else here in the granite state.

Woo! 100% for me! I obviously pay a bit more attention to these than I should… Although I am collecting one of each, and helping another friend collect two of each quarter from each mint for herself and her brother.

80%, though I struggled with the ones not released yet, nailed the ones already in circulation.
Is it just me, or was there a problem with the image for #8, which appeared to be a duplicate picture? I had to flip a coin on that one (no, not a quarter…)
posted by Chan on 7-3-2007 at 6:30 am
I have no idea what’s going on with the image for #8 — it was working fine before, and appears to be working fine now. I couldn’t re-create any sort of error. Maybe certain browsers are coughing on it, I dunno. I re-submitted the images to see if it’ll help.
posted by Sandy on 7-3-2007 at 6:39 am
And Chan, just for the record, all of these coins are in circulation. (And that’s a hint as to the answer on a couple of them!) The most recent one to appear (to date) was Idaho in early June 2007.

One cannot just look at the new Quarters and name them, one has to study them as they come out and remember what each state has that represents them

I really liked this trivia State Quarter Game. It was pretty easy for me. I have memorized almost all of the state quarters. I got a 95% out of a 100%. I would like to see more Quizes like this.

I live in Iowa, and the rendition of the quarter is not that good. I missed because I wasn’t sure what Pennsylvania’s quarter looked like. The details in the print were not very good!
