Taking this quiz breaks my heart because since the 1st coin, Delaware, was issued, I've been collecting quarters. At least $10.00 per state. Of my favorite ones, the states with horses depicted upon them, (along with my bicentennial collection) I had far more than 40 coins--hundreds of my favorites--I'd never counted them. But now, they are all gone. No, I wasn't robbed by someone who broke into my home. It's far worse than that. My own husband, who knew I collected the bicentennials & horse states (but was clueless to the other states or the quantities I'd collected) found some of them. I kept them in the cubes that M&M minis come packaged in-$14.00 fit perfectly in each tube. I was away for 2 weeks. He & my grown sons went through all my things, including craft supplies, clothing drawers, etc. once he figured it out, he knew he'd seen lots & lots of those tubes. All were labeled with the state enclosed & I thought, hidden well.
When I got home & realized within minutes of arrival what he'd done---years of collecting & sorting & saving---I was crushed, totally devastated.... If he'd had an affair, I could understand better why. But I still cannot understand why he took & spent all of my quarters. It's not the dollar amount that tears me up. It's that he KNEW they were special to me but he did it anyway & our sons helped him go through my belongings to find as many as they could.
I know he didn't find all of them, but $308.00 worth that I can account for in addition to ALL my other change-rolls of all denominations, of which I knew I had, but not how much I had. I cannot get over this feeling of betrayal because if he needed cash, he could have gotten a cash advance from one of our credit cards or called me & I could have told him where some was. But, NO! He spent my collection, stole my trust, broke my heart, alienated me from my family. His answer to me was, "They're just quarters, I'll get you more when I get paid. What's the big deal?"
You went through all my things, leaving a mess behind, & my years of collecting, sorting, labeling---gone---that's the big deal. 37 years of marriage pretty much destroyed by a single act. I could forgive an affair, but not this. He bought marijuana with my collection.

100%. For some weird reason I look at the back of every quarter I get in change. I think I picked up the habit when I was a kid and read a Phillip K. Dick story about a man who got a Franklin Roosevelt quarter (he's on the dime)which allowed him to pass into an alternate universe.
