		<description>There was a story not so long ago claiming that the famed photo is actually the trunk of an elephant swimming, and that a circus owner passed the photo off as nessie and created the story so he could offer a million dollar reward for whomever captured the creature so he could use her in his circus.  He of course knew there was no monster . . . and also knew he&#039;d get a ton of free publicity via the reward offer.

I heard/read this several months ago.  I don&#039;t know if it&#039;s been debunked or not, so take with a grain of salt.</description>
