While the 1990s made up for it, fans of the Atlanta Braves who watched them on (W)TBS in the 1970s & 80s went through a lot of misery.

It was great that they broadcast 150 games each year; it was hell that the team lost 95 of them. Skip Caray would begin telling jokes around the 6th inning just to keep the audience.

Cin-cin-nati. The Bengals have one winning season in the last 18. Not only have players from that team constantly been arrested but the rest of the country’s sports media makes fun of our city for it. The Reds have one playoff appearance in 18 years, as well. Our college’s basketball team had a coach who got run out of town for a DUI after years of becoming more famous for his temper and tirades then for his success. Pete Rose. Marge Schott. Bob Huggins. Chris Henry. Chad Johnson. When you throw in Larry Flynt and Jerry Springer you start to think it must be something in the water.

How the New Orleans (S)Aints missed this list, I will never know. Until two years ago they had never even won a playoff game.

Something about looking at old game photos of the Superdome in New Orleans and seeing 80% of the crowd wearing bags on their heads.
