You Can Lead a Pen to Water
by Mangesh Hattikudur - August 1, 2006 - 10:19 AM

If you’re wondering how to travel through Mexico on Montezuma’s good side, one trick would be to avoid his tainted water at all cost. Of course, another way would be to take the handy-dandy SteriPEN with you. Supposedly, the highly touted device uses “UV technology” to zap 99.99% of the bacteria, viruses and protozoa in seconds. All you have to do is dip the battery operated pen in your glass of tap water, wait for it to give you the go-ahead, and then gulp away. Sounds amazing, right? And while the price tag is a little hefty ($150 for about 140 uses), it seems worth it to avoid spending your vacation hugging a toilet. Link via PopGadget

  1. Huh. Wonder if they could make a big, mass-use version for sterilizing water in developing countries that still suffer from cholera…
