They definitely reproduce at a rate that is comparable to our friends south of the border. We need to make sure they do not breed with Africans, or we could have killer-Mexicans! (or Africanized-Mexicans)

Maybe the decline in honeybees in the US is because many of them came from Mexico and Homeland Security has been stopping them at the border and/or deporting them?

A recent article in THE NEW YORKER focused on the plight of the honeybee in the U.S. I believe the article came out this summer. There were several theories presented on the cause of the honeybee disappearance.

A few weeks ago, there was a news report that the honeybee population drop was due to a disease.

A Google search might find more.
