Dressing Up The Set

As soon as we hang the whiteboard, Mangesh and I will be all moved in. I’m writing today from the new, semi-permanent mental_floss New York headquarters. OK, headquarters might overstate the space. But there are desks and cabinets, plus fridge access and a vigilant network of security cameras.

Our quest for stationery led me to email the creative gurus at Behance, a company whose mission is to increase creative productivity. (They also make nice notebooks and pads.) Scott invited me over for a quick tour and some free stuff. He also told me about the new Behance Network, where designers and illustrators and otherwise creative people can upload their portfolios, collaborate on projects, and look for jobs. A good place to browse, find work or find workers.

The lesson here, of course, is that we’re always in the market for free cool stuff. As we continue to dress up the set, let us know if you’ve got something we need on our walls.

  1. have the walls been rubberized? :-)

  2. You have to be kidding! Your giving them a massive plug for a few freebies?
    You sold out too cheap.

  3. Are the security cameras trained on a glass display case containing a diamond made from a lock of Beethoven’s hair? ‘Cause if they’re not, they should be.

  4. Getting what you want, gratis, is smart enough to write about. And hey, checked out site?

  5. LEAVE NOTHING BEHIND! Not even the rats!
Congrats on setting up in the Media Capital of the world. Now go leaflet subscription cards…

  6. Do you have individual offices or just desks? If just desks, are there partitions? And the fridge, is it a regular one or a mini. And when will we be granted video access kind of like cavemenscrib.com thingy???? I’m sure its a cool place…….enjoy!

  7. The folks over at despair.com have taken the Successories posters the completely opposite way. I’m guessing there are a few that would work well on the walls of the new corporate headquarters.

  8. I think your T-shirt designs would make great wall posters–and lots of teachers would buy them for their classrooms, too.

  9. a really silly, fun way to decorate any room which doesn’t take itself too seriously is with a random coloring book and a brand new box of crayons. its a fun, bonding activity (although you’ve probably had enough of that). i did it in my freshman dorm with all my brand new hallmates at the beginning of school. after that, people would drop by to update their offerings either with new drawings or new coloring books.

  10. I saw one of those fake motiviational office posters awhile ago. It was a picture of forks lined up next to each other with one of them being all twisted. On the bottom it said “just because you are unique doesn’t mean you are useful.”
