In fact, Richard Farina was the passenger on the motorcyle ride that caused his death. While going way too fast he flew off the back…. he was on the way to a bookstore party celebrating the release of his book.

I am pretty sure Anthony Kiedis mentions a motorcycle accident in Scar Tissue. I think it broke a few ribs [and was like in 97-98]

The Dylan “accident” may have been faked, and if so was likely “inspired” by the true death of his friend Richard Farina (Mimi Baez husband, Joan’s brother in law), who killed himself on a motorcyle – riding alone on his way home, following a lunch at a restaurant in ca with the Baez sisters at around that time (1965 ? 66 ?)

don’t forget that Ewan MacGregor was rear ended by a car just north of Airdrie Alberta in July of 2004. He was not injured in the incident, but his bike sustained minor damage to the rear subframe and luggage rack.
