When I was a kid, the “cereal aisle” at the grocery store was the dumping ground for children whose mothers didn’t want to be bothered while they shopped. “Find what you want, and I’ll meet you there.” Of course, we chose whatever brand had the best prizes. Today’s giveaways aren’t as plastic, and the cereal isn’t as sugary, but the memories made us nostalgic for a bowl of the sweet stuff. Take our Spoon Candy quiz. And whether you puff up or simply flake out, be sure to leave your score in the comments below.

  1. 59 %, gues I’m no Czar of Cereal!

  2. Uh, that would be 50% not 59%

  3. My score was 50% as well. But it was good jog down memory lane! This was a superiffic quiz! Thank you!

  4. I still have a Jackson 5 record somewhere that was cut off the back of a box of cereal.

Missed one; I didn’t think a piece of Honey Comb was big enough for seven holes.

  5. Great quiz! Looks like I need to go down the cereal aisle more often!

  6. 40%, not so hot.

  7. 50% here, too. I missed the Honeycombs one as well, and that was actually one of the cereals I liked as a kid. My favorites, though, would have to be a tie between Cap’n Crunch Crunch Berries and Fruity Pebbles. For each bowl of Crunch Berries I would eat all of the regular ‘yellow’ bits first, so I ended up with a bowl full of just berries. Pretty sure that would have been an early warning sign for OCD.

  8. I got only 35% — but it was a fun quiz! Oddly enough, the one I remember the best is “Colon Blow” from SNL!

  9. actually the correct answer should be SUPER Colon Blow…

  10. I scored 45%. As a kid, I was an avid participator in the campaign for getting the Trix Rabbit some Trix. They had voting ballots you could cut out from the back of the box, and they said that anyone could vote as many times as they wanted by sending in a ballot in on a 3″x5″ card. So I cut up several sheets of notebook paper and hand-made about 70 or so “votes” for yes. I mailed as many as I could in one envelope. Although I will admit I put one “No” vote in the mix (hey, I looked at the issue from all sides). A few weeks after the results were in, I received a “Thank you” letter from the Trix rabbit thanking me for helping him finally get some Trix. I kept that letter for the longest time, but I’m not sure what happened to it. It’s probably somewhere in the boxes of junk at my parents’ house.

Come on, it was just cereal. The poor rabbit wanted some cereal, and no one would give him any :(

  11. 55%. Fun quiz!

  12. dismal results…..I’m blaming it on my parents, who (thankfully!) only let me eat Rice Crispies, Chex, Cheerios….. boring cereals, with an occasional Tony the Tiger thrown in to keep me happy!

  13. Very cool quiz. I sort of sucked at it, though. 50 percent.

  14. Silly Reenie, Trix are for kids!

  15. This kind of quiz not only wirks the memory, but is a lot of fun:-)!!

  16. 60%
all due to my brother not listening to
me tell him to eat healthier cereal. -_-

  17. 45% here. Only wish there was a question about Ka-Boom. Never liked the cereal, however…just the name.

  18. I KNEW IT WAS CORNElIUS! Why did I pick Sunny?

  19. 65% Not too bad, huh?

  20. 18 out of 20 isnt bad.

  21. 100% I watched too much TV and ate too much cereal as a kid.

  22. 8 out of 20….lol…..what a flop on cereal I am huh???? lol…..by the way….no need to answer that question….lol

  23. My sister used to eat Luckey Charms…ugh! - they made me sick the first and only time I tried to eat them. Were they mostly marshmallows? My favorite cereal as a child was Sugar Pops - now call Corn Pops. I still eat cereal but mostly Kellogs Muesli and Kashi Crunch with 13 grams of protein…where does all the protein come from? Soy?!? Not a bad protein source. I got 65 pct.

  24. holy cow! made me think

  25. Awesome quiz. I love Cereal.

I got some free samples at
    Cereal.com

  26. I scored 9 out of 20, but its been a while since I’ve been a kid! :)

  27. While I guessed at a couple of them, I scored a 100%…pretty sad that I didn’t do the same on my GRE!

  28. I only got 5 right…but maybe I wasnt old enough in the 80’s so maybe thats why da!

  29. 25% I need to check out cereal a little better!! Go the Jackson Five one though and remember the album on the box also.

  30. I like the quiz. It did remind me of the good old days. I remember when you got card of an Indian in shreaded wheat when it was man size. My parents did’t want us to have sugar because it would rot our teeth. Congrads to those who got more than 5 right. Lets do it again sometime in the future. Juan-Marie

  31. I knew 16 of them for sure. Had to guess on the other 4. But still managed to get a perfect score

  32. Spoon Candy
    Score: 100% (20 out of 20)

  33. Fun quiz! 70% for me. I am most disappointed that I did not remember the Alpha-Bits answer. Even the logical GUESS is the Jackson 5, but I did not even guess that…. Still pleased with the score anyway.

  34. I can’t believe I remember all of these cerals.boy that shows how old I am

  35. Great Quiz! Im in my fifties and it was really Fun to take this Quiz.Brought back a few memories. My all time favorite cereal was Life.Hope to see more quizzes in future. Thanks.

  36. 30% I thought I knew more about cereal, but I really don’t go for those sugary junk cereals. I only eat cereals that contain no sugar and no salt - more fiber.

  37. Wow! Do I feel old i knew almost all these answers….that’s scarey lol

  38. oops!!! I forgot to post my score 95%!!!! Told ya I was old I knew way too many answers lol

  39. Wish we had more of these…it’s always fun to see what you remember about your childhood…

  40. 65% !! Anyone remember the cereal “Crazy Cow”? came in Strawberry or Chocolate and turned your milk that flavor?? Or what about “Body Buddies”??? and YEAH. . .there should have been a KABOOM question in there!! Great Cereal!!

Remember Cabbage Patch Kid Cereal?? Nastiest Stuff on Earth ranked right up there with “Crispy Critters” . . disgusting. .

  41. Terri, I’m with you; my age helped to get me a score of 90%.

    The test was fun.

  42. WOW! I feel so vindicated!! No one EVER remembers QUISP when I tell them it was my all time favorite cereal growing up!!
See.. IT DID EXIST!! Fun quiz but I only got 50% correct .

  43. Well I did great got all of them, but then I’m probably older than any of you too!! LOL! I just full of useless trivia!

  44. I MISSED A FEW, I LOVED QUISP… ITS 5:19 HERE IN CINCINNATI… THINK I WILL HAVE SOME CEREAL INSTEAD OF KFC !

  45. Wow I forgot about a lot of this.It brings back a lot of old memories.

  46. 45%. Oh well, I’m busy reading the newspaper and not reading the cereal box. But quiz was fun to take. Go Navy, beat Army!

  47. 60% not too bad. Sure made me remember some cereal names–like Freakies, my daughter ate them. Course when I was a kid we didn’t have much to chose from LOL

  48. This cereal quiz was a toughie…even as a child and then as a mother, except for Froot Loops, we ate the regular kind: Cheerios, Rice Krispies, Corn Flakes…still, this was fun…thanks

  49. this i am a child was very hard for me because i am only a 10 year old so yeahnever heard of some of this cerals

  50. GOT 100% I WATCHED TOO MUCH SATURDAY MORN TV. WE ONLY ATE SHREDDED WHEAT,PUFFED RICE AND PUFFED WHEAT. I
LOVE SATURDAY MORNING TV IN THE 60 & 70

  51. I guess us baby-boomers do not know our cereal trivia. But I enjoyed it!

  52. 50% here too. Got the Honeycomb question though - thanks to my OCD (I’m a counter). LOL

  53. I got 70% I cant believe I remembered all that cereal trivia… haha That was FUN!

  54. ALL OF THE QUESTIONS THAT I GOT WRONG WERE ABOUT CEREALS I NEVER KNEW ANYTHING ABOUT. NEVER EVER TASTED THEM BEFORE.

  55. 100% woo hoo…I know my cereals!!! LOL

  56. I guess I had better start eating other cereals. My number one cereal is
Cheerio’s with Honey. I only remember Mikey. I loved watching him.

  57. 11 out of 20—
I remember all of these cereals! LOVED Quisp growing up!

  58. 80% not too bad. Boy, I had to really think about these cereals. Brought back a lot of memories. This guiz was a real toughie, but kinda fun.

  59. I remember buying lots of those cereals for my kids back then. Suprised myself that Iremembered so much about them.

  60. Yeah, I know.Musta spent to many Saturday mornings in front of the tube eating Fruit Loops!

  61. 60% & that was due to cheating a bit & checking my box of quaker oats to find its address, (currently Chicago). Great trip down memory lane, I grew up in the 60’s & 70’s & had a mom who, thank goodness mostly had us eat healthy cereals, but you could hardly keep us out of the cereal aisle when we followed her grocery shopping. We’d hang out there. That stuff is part of a unified culture for those of us from that time.

  62. 50% 10/20

  63. it brought back memories

  64. HaHa! That was still fun! I got a 7 out of 20! I think I am a bit outdated in my cereal area!

  65. My wife got 5/20 and I got 13/20.

It was a fun quiz to take. Brought back some good old memories.

    Thanks.

  66. i got a 17 outta 20

  67. this was a good charge to the brain just like a good bowl of cereal

  68. i love oatmeal!

  69. Pretty Cool test….i got two wrong….lol

  70. Got 50%…mostly guessing. Some of them were total shots in the dark- but fun anyway. The Cap’n Crunch one, though- piece of cake- my favorite! ;)

  71. 100% made me think of the fun times growning up

  72. I got 8 right. I thought I knew more about cereal than I do. Guess I was wrong. To the fellow who said nobody remembered Quisp cereal…the same thing happened to me when I asked someone about it, no one knew what I was talking about. Quake was the other one that was popular at the same time. They did all their commercials together.

  73. 30% - pretty bad!

  74. 95% Foiled by the honey comb!!!!!!
    I love Captain Crunch.

  75. I only got 8 out of 20. Can you guess who’s mom wouldn’t buy them “worthless cereal” and who made them go out and play instead of sit in front of “that stupid TV” when they were young?

    It’s all her fault …

  76. 80%. i’ve always been a sucker for advertising. Love commercials especially.

  77. 55%–not too bad. I remember a lot of the old cereal ads from my early days. I love cereal.

  78. 49%. Yikes! I guess that’s because I primarily ate SHREDDED WHEAT and RAISIN BRAN. (And that hasn’t changed much in 50 years.)

  79. 70%! Woo Hoo!

  80. 50% - Not too bad, I guess.

  81. Age doesn’t really have anything to do with it. I’m in my 50’s and only got 35%, maybe cuz we rarely ate cereal in my house–bacon and eggs, pancakes, waffles, and VERY occasionally Cheerios.

  82. this was fun!
