My sister had one of those sensitive plants. Unfortunately for the plant, everyone who came to our house wanted to test it out. I'm pretty sure we touched the poor thing to death.

Strange article amazing plants and how you'll kill them.
Reminds me of that marine joke "we travel to far away lands meet new people and kill them"
Stay focused on killing your ficus tree. Over water it.

Just in case you want good advice... Rent Your Plants.

Be careful not to let the Sensitive plant grow in your yard! It is actually a weed here in TX, and it took hold in my yard and it was almost impossible to get rid of. It was actually harming my St. Augustine grass. The limbs have tiny thorns on them and they are hard to get out. You have to wear gloves just to avoid the stickers. The flowers are pretty, but, it became a sign that the yard needed to be cut when the kids all came in with little bouquets of the puffy flowers for me!
It's an interesting plant as long as you are able to contain it, but it spreads by the roots and pulling it will only make it propagate more quickly.

I am very relieved to see that there are other people who share my propensity for "Black Thumb Syndrome" and have also killed cacti and aloe vera plants. I have a reputation among family and friends as a plant killer, although an unintentional one. I do actually have a bamboo stalk in a vase on my desk at work, but I have strict instructions not to even look at it. And just yesterday I brought home three new "victims"; my husband holds out little hope for their survival beyond the end of October.

I'm pretty sure I killed my resurrection plant. Followed all the directions and it just turned brown and started to fall apart. I let it dry up in the hopes that it'll come back to life when I water it again, but I'm honestly embarrassed about it.

My sister killed a fake plant once. Sat it to close to the fireplace and it melted. Yeah we still give her grief over that one. LOL

Your probable methods of killing the above plants is hysterical. Around here, it seems like the quickest way we kill a plant is just by purchasing it.

I have killed cactus and aloe plants by giving them too much TLC - I overwatered them and they rotted. I also killed the resurrection fern Mom gave me. Loved not wisely but too well?

Several years ago, a local library had a corpse plant on display. The thing was HUGE, and the smell was vile. Evidently, it uses flies for pollination.
