I bet you guys have already talked about this, but as a former teacher it really makes me crazy when people put prices like this: .50(cents sign) What they really mean is $.50 but they combine the use of a decimal point with the cents sign.

Are there any collections of inappropriate apostrophe sightings? As in "There are some extra chair's"?

This wasn't featured, or may have been before, but I regularly got receipts at a particular restaurant that always had "Thank You" on them. I was never sure if it was supposed to be the owner, cashier or perhaps the building itself thanking me, or just an attempt to be up front about insincerity.

It suddenly occurred to me I don't know who's dumber - the idiots who make these "signs" or the people like me who laugh so hard at them.

I don't even know where to begin with the "sexy" artificial trees (artificial sexiness?), but these are great.

I remember seeing a sign outside a Dariy Queen in Washington that advertized "new" "specials".

Perhaps she considered you more of a heathen and found your name ironic? Were you a rebellious youth? Just kidding! :-)

My grandmother always put my name in quotes when addressing birthday or christmas cards. She never did this for my brothers though. I can only imagine that she thought I was an impostor posing to be her grandson.

I love these - using quotation marks for emphasis and the misuse and abuse of apostrophes made me laugh out loud. I especially enjoyed "the name you can trust" for an item made in china . . . considering all the recent recalls.
