Wome liked doing the dishes because no one wanted to “help”, so that was a bit of time she could be alone and do something so automatically rote that she could just be quiet and think.

I agree with the housewives of that time. I actually LIKE doing dishes. Especially after a party. It’s relaxing.

Charles Panati is terrific! He actually has the first thanks in our book, though In the Beginning goes about tackling topics in a slighty different manner, and (hopefully) with more wit.
