Arizona (and some other intermountain sates) has a law that if there is a verifiable election tie, the two candidates draw cards - high card winds. There is even a town in AZ called "Showlow". Not long ago (1920s, I think), their mayoral election was decidid that way, and the name of the town was changed to reflect it. "Showlow" is a familiar concept to any card player.

"who hasn’t had a vision of the bizarro USA where Al Gore is president?"

Vision of the bizarro USA?
Who hasn't "HAD it" with the REALITY of

a bizarro USA that gets worse every day

in every way since the USSC (with

critical votes from TWO of GHWB's

appointee Justices) "decided" the

election by STOPPING the vote count and

GIVING the election to the son of the

man who gave them their lifetime

appointments on the Supreme Court?

Ernie Harwell wasn't the person who made the famous Branca/Thompson call, it was Russ Hodges. Red Barber had the call for the Dodgers.

The main reason for the home run by Thompson was simply the size of the Polo Grounds. With a left-field fence 250 feet from home plate, Thompson was able to hit the high-and-inside fastball out of the park.
