Elvira's not a vampire; I'm 99.8% sure that was never a part of her schtick. There was some confusion with Vampira, which (according to the Cassandra Peterson interview) stemmed from some higher-ups in charge of her show who insisted that she wear black hair instead of red. But the fully licensed Elvira costume does not include fangs.

Okay, I was surprised to see Elvira on here. Mostly because I always saw her as vampish, but never a vampire. She had a whole movie, where she played this character Elvira, and still never was a vampire. Her biggest superpower was twirling pasties at the end of the movie.

Granted, the list is mostly for fun (As you have a cereal and a muppet on it), but both of them at least are specifically called a vampire, with fangs and such. Whereas Elvira is just the 'mistress of the night' - also ambiguous.

Just looking for someone to point me to the definitive statement so I can put this childhood quandary behind me!

I always prefered Bela Lugosi.

He was so sleek in the original

And he even seemed to exude warmth in Abbott and Costello Meets Frankenstein.

But I've always wanted to see Timothy Dalton in the part in a definitive version that we haven't had yet.

The closest so far has been the Louis Jourdan version, but he stayed one constant age, and Arthur and Quincy were merged into a single character, Mina too weak a character, and although it tried to open it up some the film was mired in Stoker's epistolary construction, and looked like a videotaped version not a cinemagraphical one.
