On Monday, we asked people to help us create a list of places mental_floss magazine is sold. You came through. We also said we’d give away t-shirts to a few lucky contributors.
• We picked a number at random (as you can see on the Post-it Note, #112). Our first winner is the person whose comment number matched. Congrats to Zack, who has seen the mag at Barnes & Noble in Shelby Township, MI.
• Our second winner would have been the person who picked our secret location (we chose The Regulator Bookshop on Ninth Street in Durham, NC). Unfortunately, nobody got this one.
• We also said we’d award a t-shirt for the most obscure location. I’m not seeing a ton of crazy places. So let’s keep the contest going. Tell us other places you can buy mental_floss, and you’ll have two more chances to win a free t-shirt:
1) We’ll pick another lucky number.
2) The most obscure place wins.
Unless there are any questions, let’s begin. (Leave your comments here, not under the original post.)
[And if you don't want to play our silly games but still want mental_floss merchandise, you can subscribe to the magazine or buy yourself some t-shirts.]
I buy mine at Mayer’s Smoke Shop in Ithaca, NY. Well, that’s not entirely true… I have a subscription, but I have bought it there to stick in gift bags and whatnot.

While I didn’t find one to buy there, I had my dad ship me one in Krakow, Poland this past summer and passed it around to all of my friend

I saw copies for sale at the Golden Temple in Birmingham Alabama. It’s a vegan food and offbeat merchandise store and restaurant run by a local family of Sikhs. It’s a really cool store- and they serve a killer Golden Temple Stack (rice, black beans, guacomole and other goodies).

I’m telling you…. GUAM is obscure!!!
Guam is a US territory in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and is home to the most beautiful Islanders. I found a copy once at Barracks 20 mini-mart on the US Naval Base.

Berryville in Mt. Shasta, Ca!! Berryville Being one of the health food stores in town, and “Berryville” being the second name of the town/city place that I live. They changed it in the 1800’s to get a Post Office. Too many Post Offices were in a “Strawberry Valley”, which would make it more confusing. After being Berryville for a nice amount of time. It then was changed to “Sisson”. Sisson being the name of this big shot that owned an inn that was really popular. Then in 1924 they changed it to Mt. Shasta. Considering that the town/city thing I live in is on a Mount, which name is Mt. Shasta, this one makes the most sense to me.
I don’t know if we have to say what shirt we want, but my chose would be “You’ve got male”

Um, my apartment in Kunming China isn’t obscure enough?? If it’s the fact that I’m not actually a bona fide seller of Mental Floss, well, um… I can start selling them to other people if you want me to. However, I didn’t think that was very legal; plus, people would have to pay for a very expensive plane ticket to get it, so I thought I would defray the cost of the magazine. (I’m really very nice that way.) See, I should win. :) I’m nice, AND I have Mental Floss.

The first place I bought it was at the Hungry Mind in St Paul, MN… it’s closed now, sadly enough. Another small store that was the victim of Borderization.

Um, oddly enough the Blockbuster video store up the street from me in Grand Rapids, Michigan sells it. It’s where I bought my first copy, and where I get it to this day.
