chris, I recently read the book too, and in section II there is a section, right before the creature is made, that speaks about Victor scrounging in the cemetery for body parts. It says he tried to choose the best parts for his creation.

Alternate method to Boris Karloff's Kevin Bacon number of two is:
Karloff starred in the 1963 stinker, The Terror, with Jack Nicholson, who was in A Few Good Men with Kevin Bacon.

Re: "Flesh for Frankenstein"

I also saw the original release, but I have fond memories. The film was hilarious and pretty gross for it's day. The theater we saw it in was packed. It also was originally shown with certain "instructions." The temperature was raised in the theater and they arranged for the smell of formaldehide to permeate the theater during the scenes in the lab. As you might imagine, this was rather puke inducing for those of a sensitive nature. I saw several people being helped out into the fresh air. The strangest movie experience I've ever had.

The movies (except for the 1910 movie posted here) always shows the monster as being a bunch of corpse parts strewn together. I recently read the original Mary Shelley Frankenstein novel (excellent by the way) and unless I missed a couple of words, never saw anything about the Dr sewing together body parts. In mainly implies that he uses various chemicals and lab intruments to create the hulking monster from scratch.

Young Frankenstein has been one of my favorite movies since I was about 12 or so! IT JUST NEVER GETS OLD!

Fun fact, Gene Wilder is actually the one who came up with the idea for Young Frankenstein and began writing it. Mel Brooks was only brought on because no other director could do the movie justice, and Gene was hitting a little writer’s block. Also the ever-famous Putting on the Ritz scene was actually added at the last moment. Mel Brooks originally did not think the scene should be put in, but Gene insisted and insisted that it was perfect, finally Mel just went okay, fine, the scene is in. Gene of course was like what? Why the sudden change of heart? Mel simply said I knew the scene was either horrible or one of the most genius routines ever written; I decided if you fought to keep it in then it was genius, if you gave up then it was stupid.

[I not only have memorized the movie, but the special features section. Loosely of course, I mean that is not exactly the conversation. I am sure you can find it somewhere online]

Aha. I've been wondering why I haven't seen the next book in Koontz's Frankenstein series. I just thought he was taunting me.

Thanks!!
