Vanity Cards

After Sandy’s TV Tags Quiz, I got to wondering about those little animated logos at the beginning and ending of TV shows. Generally they’re just a few seconds long, and many of them have a distinctly 70’s/80’s vibe. If you enjoyed the quiz, you might dig this collection of vanity cards edited together:

If your tastes tend towards deconstructionism, try the collection of YTMND vanity card sites.

After the jump: the strangely violent animated R&D TV vanity cards from Battlestar Galactica.

  1. Chuck Lorre who produces Two and Half Men, Dharma & Greg, etc. is (in)famous for his vanity cards that appear for a split second after the end credits roll on every show. He’s so obsessed, he’s archived every one on his site – chucklorre.com.

  2. I just started noticing those, P! The advent of the DVR has made reading them a lot easier. I don’t care for his shows much, but his vanity cards never fail to entertain.

  3. Oh my GOD! The Channel 29 one really got me! I grew up watching that channel!

  4. Man, a lot of those brought back memories of Saturday morning cartoons.
