Yeah, the first few days after I stopped drinking caffine was awful. I was really grouchy in the morning (I have to be at work by 7:30am). One morning my coworker actually went to Starbucks to get me caffine he was so annoyed by my grouchiness.

Thanks, Tara. I really hadn't thought about the "bad stuff" associated with caffiene.

Way to go being caffiene-free. I have been for the past couple years as well. The first two weeks were horrible, but now I love being able to function in the morning without having to open a soda or brew some coffee.

Ransom - thanks for the look back. The comments really can be entertaining.

I have to admit that I am a caffeine junkie. I also had a horrible experience with coffee in college where I got the shakes, palpitations, ringing in the ears and a general desire to throw myself against any wall I could find out of desperation to make myself calm down. I spent two years caffeine free (it was so bad that if anyone walked into the room with a cup of coffee, the smell would make me go into shock all over again).

HOWEVER... I have begun drinking it again. At first it was just a cup every once in a while and then I progressed to a cup every day. I also started drinking Red Bull. I am completely addicted to the stuff. Although I dont drink it every day, I do have about five if I go out at night (I´ll admit, alcohol is also involved in those drinks). I´ve only had two mild shocks in the past 4 years so I guess it´s not that bad, right?

Caffeine is dangerous and I don't think that most people fully realize it. Students and young people alike just think that it is a "quick" source of energy. I'm a bit worried about all of the energy drinks that seem to be hitting the stores lately. There's been so many of them, each promises more and more energy. I'm a sleep tech and caffeine contributes to a number of different sleep disorders. Mostly Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS). People wonder why they can't keep their legs still when they are trying to go to bed, forgetting those 5 energy drinks that they have had throughout the course of the day. It can cause more health problems other than sleep disorders too, such as heart problems. Caffeine is not a good thing. And everyone will be glad to know that I am completely caffeine free now! I haven't had any caffeine for a bit over 2 months now. :)

I've worried about the caffeine thing. Especially as I stand and watch the students in front of me at the coffee machine hitting the "Espresso" button over and over, frustrated because it only comes out in "shots" and they're trying to fill their cups.

I agree with not destroying the English language, Stew. Today I had lunch at a restaurant, "Baha Burger." I complained to coworkers about the misspell (even though, technically Baja isn't English)and they pointed out that my fellow Alabamians probably wouldn't be able to understand the H sound of the J in Baja. I'm left wondering if the owners themselves are ignorant of the correct spelling, or have decided to dumb it down....
