I am very interested in knowing the first time the terms “subprime” and/or “exotic loans” were first used in the NY Times and in popular media more broadly. General information on the origin and development of the terms would be very helpful.

If inflation was 7% per year, over 25 years that would be a bit over $16 today! Heck you can barely get in any comedy club for that price, let alone the allure of free beer! I doubt Mr Maher would be so generous today.

ok, the pollution started “global warming” not Mental Floss. Perhaps I need to reread when Starbucks was founded.

This weekend my 9 year old son asked when Global Warming started. Being a good mother and avid reader of mental floss . . . I first explained that the word is fairly new – but it was recently talked about on mental floss (dec 1969 – news you can use II). Then of course explained that the pollution that causes mental floss started in the industrial revolution.
