I read 'The Cave' link. It was pretty darn good.

However, If the house is infested with rug rats, the sanctity of the cave becomes much more difficult to protect. Children don't get the subtlety of a locked door and are much less understanding of 'The Snap'.

By necessity, I have moved my cave off-site. I take my laptop to the university library. It is open to the public and has wireless Internet. Plus it has lots of secluded study cubicles. I arrange all of my artifacts in an exact configuration and then enter 'The Zone'.

For quite a while now, I've made a distinction between "nerds" and "geeks" -- they have similar tendencies, but "geeks", for whatever reason, have social skills and awareness (and therefore, are often adopted as mascots), whereas "nerds" are not overly concerned about social conventions.

Now -- having made this comment, one might wonder what classification does that put me in?? ha

That's great, the hubby and I are both nerds (as proven by my commenting on a Mental Floss Blog, right?)
