When I was in San Fran in '92(?) I went to a little science center in Golden Gate Park and there was an exhibit of Larson cartoons.

I love "The Far Side." I have about 20 of his comics on the dorm of my dorm. I agree that you almost have to have some bio knowledge to understand some of his humor, which makes it all the sweeter when you get it.

I received "The PreHistory..." as a Christmas gift from my boss, with the condition I had to wait to read it on the train from NYC to Florida. Laughing out poud on a long distance train got me some strange looks, until my book was identified. Not a few people wanted to read it.

I agree that generally this info was in the Prehistory although it was nice to get a little more on what he's done lately.

And it was definitely an owl louse. I don't know why I know that, but I do.

You could just read The Prehistory of the Far Side to get virtually all of this information. I haven't read it in years, but I thought the louse named after him was found on elephants, not owls...but I could be wrong.
