Every time she was on screen, though, she was sitting on a couch, or carrying a big handbag, or something. When I finally picked up on what was going on, I felt pretty dumb for not noticing it sooner. Scully's big, awful blazers covered most of the pregnancy, and there were a few episodes that required wearing a huge parka the whole time that did the trick. But when she got too big to hide, the writers created a whole storyline that became the turning point that carried for the rest of the show. CC might have sqwaked, but little Piper Anderson was what kept his show afloat for the next seven years.
