Look up Jeremy Bentham. He was this 19th century philosopher who had himself mummified and stuck in a display case, which is still on public display at University College London. The head is wax, though. His real head used to be there too, but students kept stealing it.

Oh, and he invited all his friends to watch the mummification process. What an awesome guy.

I've been saying for years that I want to be mummified.

I think everyone thinks I'm kidding.

A family friend of mom wanted the song \Dropkick Me Jesus Thru the Goalposts of Life\ by Bobby Bare played at her funeral. If mom didn't have it playing, Jane said she'd come back and haunt us. What a hoot.

No one is getting any of my organs. I know that much. Unless its a poor black child. I cant stand the idea of a rich white person taking my sweet plump organs.

And then cremate me.

I, too, am in the "donate and burn" camp. That, however, has more to do with the disposition of the body than with the actual funeral. I saw a woodcut from a medieval funeral in Stephen Greenblatt's _Hamlet in Purgatory_. It had a flat-topped black coffin covered end to end with burning white candles. That was pretty sharp-looking.

I have never been one for cremation, it goes against my circle of life beliefs. Though now days you don't really contribute to that circle when you get buried in a poly-whatever casket which isn't bio-degradable. I have learned recently of eternal reefs. First you are cremated and then your ashes are cast into a "pod" which is then marked with a memorial plaq and sunken into the ocean. This creates a new reef and helps sustain ocean life. How sweet!

My cousin passed away when he was 16, and he was sorta a golf prodigy...

15 years ago, when they carved a picture of him mid-golf swing on his gravestone, people complained about how strange it was. Now, however, that seems like nothing.

In Houston, there is a Funeral Museum, and it's AMAZING. My friend and I went there and picked out our dream coffins, and we sort of fought over the lobster coffin. Even better was the dream hearses. Hmmmmm..... I need to get back there soon.

Donate my whole body to science, to do with it what they will. Let med students carve it up, or forensic investigators do tests on it, or whatever. I'll be done with the darned thing.
