Star Wars Behind The Scenes: 40 Rare Photos
by David K. Israel - September 6, 2011 - 12:42 PM

Today, I present some rarely seen photos of Star Wars behind the scenes. Candid moments, funny moments, serious moments… all combine to give you a real sense of what it must have been like on the set. For even more images, check out malgusto.com. Some of these appear to be screen grabs from video, but that’s okay. We’ll still lump them in here because they’re worth it.

  1. ooohh…..I like the one of Han on Tattoine.

  2. Well, this proves it. Star Wars was faked.

  3. friggin awesome!

  4. Hello, shirtless Han Solo on the largest beach ever. Come here often?

  5. amazing, this made my stressful day

  6. Incidental nose-picking is always a pick-me-up: “I was scratching my nose!”

  7. Who’s the lovely lady in the boots on Tatooine?

  8. Should only be 39 rare photos since the one of the group in the base on Hoth is shown twice

  9. It’s sort of funny to me to see that second last pic with all the Stormtroopers and their puffy near-fro’s. How do they keep them so fluffy under the helmet?

  10. Girl on Tatooine is Koo Stark – played Cammie and all her scenes were cut from the film

  11. I love the one of Harrison Ford in the desert. He was my first totally inappropriate celebrity crush just because he was Han Solo (I was 8 the first time I watched Star Wars back in 1990).

  12. Well, I thought I had trolled the depths of behind-the-scenes Star Wars photos, but almost all of these were new to me! Thanks for posting!

  13. The first three episodes (4-6) were clearly the best as far as I’m ooncerned. The actors had a chemistry the newer prequels can’t even begin to match. Honestly, it would have been better to leave it alone rather than go back and give us 1-3. All the cgi in the world couldn’t make up for what the first episodes had.

  14. @Carbs – good eye! Fixed it :-)

  15. It always bothers me when I see “rare” photos, songs, videos, etc. on the Internet. How can they be “rare” if anyone on the planet can find them and look at them whenever they want?

Wouldn’t it be more accurate to call them “newly released” or something like that?

  16. I hope george lucas dies and stops editing my childhood. im glad the guy who made all the stormtrooper costumes is still making bank off of them. PREQUELS BLOW.

  17. I second the “Hello, shirtless Han Solo on the largest beach ever. Come here often?”

    My goodness, Mr. Ford!

  18. ^Wookienookie: I believe it’s Koo Stark, who was in the “Luke and Biggs on Tattooine” deleted scene from Ep. 4.

  19. Love the skinned chewy!

  20. Goog: Me too! My dad took me to see the anniversary re-release in ’97, when I was 10, and I remember we see Han lounging in that cafe like a bad ass, and I went, “I don’t know why, but I want to see that man completely naked. I’m heterosexual!”

  21. Yeah, shirtless Han Solo in the desert is something to behold! Although, given all the greased up, 6-pack action figure heroes in movies today, it says something that Han Solo could still be dead sexy even though he was completely clothed throughout the entire 3 movies. :)

Also love (and am slightly disturbed by) Leia about to make out with C-3PO! Ha!

  22. For a second, I thought the guy in the fourth photo was a post-Beatles George Harrison…Love the photos!

  23. I absolutely love that pic of Camie!! The girl on Tatooine you don’t remember seeing in Star Wars because her scenes were cut ;)

  24. I find the empty Wookie costume to be quite disturbing.

  25. Im not gonna lie I would like to see episodes 9,10,11…

  26. Always wanted a storm trooper suit as a kid (and actually I’d still quite like one as an adult!). I wonder if any of these are still kicking around. There seem to be plenty of helmets out there…
