New Blackberry Feeds off Good Vibrations

New Scientist's Invention Blog is reporting that the new Blackberry is going to get a whole lot smarter thanks to some new technology. Apparently, the handheld will vibrate a little every once in a while (a really small vibration that won't be mistaken for a ringtone), and depending on how it shakes, will determine where it is. The amazing part is that it'll be able to figure out whether it's on a table, in a hand or in a pocket, and then behave accordingly. On a table, it'll ring loudly to alert users of e-mails, in a hand it'll simply vibrate, and in a pocket or bag, it'll save batteries by turning off its screen! Anyway, you can read more at New Scientist, or actually view the patent application here.
