Three Things I Didn't Know About Yahoo!

Jason English

All the talk about a merger with Microsoft inspired me to read up on Yahoo! Here are a few tidbits I learned:

"¢ The site's original name was "Jerry's Guide to the World Wide Web," after co-founder Jerry Yang.

"¢ The name "Yahoo" had already been trademarked (for barbecue sauce, knives and human-propelled watercraft), which is why the company added the exclamation point.

"¢ The stock's all-time high was $475, on January 3, 2000. The all-time low came September 26, 2001 "“ $8.11.
