Sketch comedy, Elizabethan-style

By Ransom Riggs

Following on the heels of yesterday's post on language (repetitive phraseology to be exact -- guess we touched a nerve!), I thought I'd offer up a comedy sketch I wrote back in college in which 90% of the jokes are linguistic. It was penned one day while I was daydreaming in Shakespearean Lit class; all that forsoothing rubbed off, I guess, and "Two Shepherds" was born. It's good for at least a few geeky yuks -- though I think those terrible fake beards may have accounted for most of the laughs we got. (Note to past self: put beards in every sketch.)
