When Paradise Turns Toxic

By Ransom Riggs

Earlier this week, I posted a photo essay I did on Bombay Beach, one of the quintessential towns of the post-apocalypse, which sits on the banks of California's toxic Salton Sea. Yesterday, VBS.tv's own documentary on the Salton was featured on CNN, and I thought I'd share it here -- many of the comments we got on the Bombay Beach piece were from people wondering "who the heck would live there?!" and this short doc features several nice slice-of-life moments with residents of Bombay Beach, one of whom answers that question: "You get hung up here and you can't get out. It's like death row."
