From Old Trash to Massive Cash

Here is yet another amazing tale to give hope to anyone who watches Antiques Roadshow and dreams that a seemingly worthless item might be a priceless relic.

A brother and sister outside London have recently seen an old vase inherited from the home of a deceased uncle sell for $69 million at auction. The antique vase, which was dated to the 1740s and determined to have been a possession of the Chinese Qianlong Emperor, was thought so little of by the siblings that they'd carelessly placed it atop a bookshelf.

This makes me wonder, have you ever had an item in your possession that you later found to be very valuable? Or, conversely, have you ever had an item you believed to be incredibly valuable – only to later learn that it was anything but?
