Dinos of the Desert

Living in San Diego, I'm always shocked to find out just how many strange desert artworks there are within 100 miles of my home. It makes sense—the desert is a great place to put artwork. The land is cheap, and there's little rain to damage the art.

While I was already familiar with Salvation Mountain and the Desert View Tower with its strange surrounding rock statues, I was surprised when WebEcoist introduced me to yet another bizarre treasure trove of folk art. This time the artwork in question depicts dinos, saber toothed cats, mammoths and other prehistoric creatures, all made from welded sheets of metal.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm crossing my fingers we can get Ransom Riggs to take a trip out here as part of his Strange Geographies column.
