Regardless of your feelings about smoking, I'm sure we can all agree that cigarette butts are pretty disgusting. After all, they're essentially saliva and tar-filled packages that smell as bad as they look. Perhaps that's what makes Jinks Kunst's portrait of French musician Serge Gainsbour so memorable -it's created entirely from cigarette butts.

The artist spent three years collecting over 20,000 used cigarette filters to create the image. The singer was known for drinking and smoking, so the medium is a fitting tribute for the subject, but it is also a great way to recycle something that otherwise would have ended up in the streets, storm drains and landfills of France.
