What's Your Earliest Memory?

Jason English

On Fridays, I post a series of unrelated questions meant to spark conversation in the comments. Answer one, answer all, respond to someone else's reply, whatever you want. On to this week's topics of discussion...

1. Today's first question is for the teachers. What do you do on your summer breaks? If you've got one of those year-round jobs, do you know any teachers who made interesting use of their summers?

2. My daughter turns three this month, and we've had some good times over the years. But will she remember any of it? There are plenty of things I think I remember from that age, but those memories might be aided by pictures and stories. What's your earliest memory? (I stole this question from Grantland's Bill Simmons, who asked something similar on his Facebook page a while back.)

3. Simmons' question was about your earliest sports memory. I remember winning a Super Bowl XVIII box pool in January of 1984. Unfortunately, it was dumb luck. I was not a sports betting prodigy.

4. After we finish season three of Breaking Bad, my wife and I are going to get back on a documentary kick. We need some suggestions—what documentaries should we watch? (Old, new, obscure, whatever.)

Enjoy the holiday weekend! Make a sandcastle of something nerdy and email it in.
