Today's mentalfloss.com Brain Game offers a Think Thursday challenge that brings back memories for me. Back in 2004, before most people knew what mental_floss was all about, we put together the content for one of the company's first retail products: a "Hooked on Books" page-a-day calendar.

Here are five "sound-alike" or "phonic" book titles that appeared as puzzles in the calendar. As an example, THEME POUR TAN SUFF BEANER NEST represents The Importance of Being Earnest. Got it? Try to sound these out:

1.  TOOTH HOUSE AND ANTOINE AS PAY SOD HUSSY
2.  LAID EACH CHAT EARLY SLOUGH HER
3.  STRAIN JURY NOSE TRAIN GEL AND
4.  THIGH LAND DOVE DOCK TERM ARROW
5.  HOO SUFFER AID OVER GIN YAW HOOF

Here are the SOLUTIONS.

SOLUTIONS:

1. TOOTH HOUSE AND ANTOINE AS PAY SOD HUSSY = 2001: A Space Odyssey

2. LAID EACH CHAT EARLY SLOUGH HER = Lady Chatterley's Lover

3. STRAIN JURY NOSE TRAIN GEL AND = Stranger in a Strange Land

4. THIGH LAND DOVE DOCK TERM ARROW = The Island of Dr. Moreau

5. WHO SUFFER AID OVER GIN YAW HOOF = Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

Thanks for playing! Tomorrow, it's Free-for-all Friday.
