Shusaku Takaoka gives classic artworks a modern makeover. As Bored Panda reports, the Japanese graphic designer creates photo collages featuring iconic figures like the Mona Lisa in contemporary settings, scenarios, and clothing, or reimagines them as musicians, actors, and even Starbucks baristas.

Paired with a washed denim jacket, Vincent van Gogh’s scruffy beard wouldn’t look out of place in a Williamsburg bar. As for the Mona Lisa, her coy smile conveys the same sense of mystery in a Pulp Fiction movie poster as it does in Leonardo da Vinci’s famed painting.
