What’s stronger than steel, and four times stronger than concrete? The answer isn’t Wolverine’s adamantium skeleton or Superman’s fists. It’s the human femur, or thigh bone, which extends from hip to knee and has been shown to be capable of resisting forces of 1800 to 2500 pounds.

While incredible in its own right, the femur isn’t even the human body’s most singularly impressive trait, according to AsapSCIENCE’s latest video. For example, did you know that the liver performs over 300 functions on a near-daily basis? Or that hair is capable of growing up to 6 inches per year? And for that matter, that you were born with 300 bones, but your adult body contains just 206?
