Although it originated in the Himalayas, the tulip was first cultivated by Turkish Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent. The Turks improved tulips from their wild form into something more like what we see today in gardens around the world. Sultans hosted elaborate tulip parties, celebrating the flower as it bloomed. So how did the tulip become associated with the Dutch? How did tulipmania happen? In this terrific five-minute video, you'll learn all about it. Warning -- this may make you want to go hang out with tulips for a while. Enjoy:
