In the 1960s, much effort was made by General Post Office to predict and develop technologies for the future. GPO (later reorganized and privatized and renamed British Telecommunications) tried to share their efforts by creating short films like the one below, wherein "the future" is the 1990s and the technology is videocalling.

They may have been a bit mistaken about the mechanics — pulse-code modulation is used for audio, but not usually video — but this is one of the more accurate predictions we've seen lately, especially the scene in which Dad attempts to work from home.
