Taika Waititi Reveals Which Franchise is More Secretive: Star Wars or the MCU

Star Wars and the Marvel Cinematic Universe are two of the biggest and most successful movie franchises today—so what is it like to know what happens before the rest of the world, and to have to keep all those details a secret? Taika Waititi knows the answer to that question all too well.
The Thor: Ragnarok director recently directed an episode of the upcoming live-action series Star Wars: The Mandalorian. With the addition of the Disney+ episode under his belt, the director/actor now has a unique insight into the secrecy surrounding both franchises.
During SXSW, the director was interviewed by the Observer, and asked which of the two series has stricter rules. Apparently, there was a clear winner: “Star Wars, yeah, easily,” Waititi said.
While we would have predicted that the secrecy levels were a little more evenly matched, it's really not that surprising that Star Wars wins this battle. The sci-fi franchise notoriously does not reveal anything about its upcoming films—including the title—until the last minute. In fact, at this very moment, fans are still anxiously awaiting a teaser, trailer, and title for Episode IX, which is coming to theaters this December.
