In this tongue-in-cheek video, NPR explores the history of life on Earth, viewed through the lens of beer. It's the true story of fossil hunter Jason Osborne, who worked with brewer/microbiologist Jasper Akerboom, to make beer using yeast collected from a 35-million-year-old proto-whale fossil found in a Virginia swamp.

Dubbed "Bone Dusters Paleo Ale," NPR's Adam Cole reports, "It tasted great!" So, my dear beer nerds, enjoy this bizarre story of beer, history, life, and whale fossils, all told using a fake David Attenborough accent:

Personally, I'm going for gross AND awesome on this one.
