The Most Common Job in Each State

By Alvin Ward

A few months ago we looked at jobs that were overrepresented in each state. Today let's review the most common ones. This map comes from NPR's Planet Money, who used Census Bureau data and found the top jobs from 1978-2014. Above is the most recent year; you see an animated GIF of the last few decades here.
Planet Money left out Managers Not Elsewhere Classified and Salespersons Not Elsewhere Classified because, as they put it, "those categories are broad and vague to the point of meaninglessness."
