How Razzles Are Made

Razzles first hit the shelves in 1966 as a raspberry-flavored treat with the slogan, “First it’s candy, then it’s gum! Little round Razzles are so much fun!” Forty-nine years later, they’re still a fan favorite. But how exactly are these candies made? The above video, from Destination America,  shows how dextrose (a simple sugar), gum base, and flavoring become delicious treats. Fun fact: The machine that makes the Razzles presses down with so much weight that, according to the woman in the video, "it's like having an elephant press it down." Pharmaceutical tablets are apparently made the same way.
