Benedict Cumberbatch Has No Plans to Leave Marvel After Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
By Cody Schultz

Although Benedict Cumberbatch joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe a tad late in the game, his character, Doctor Strange, has become one of its most important heroes. Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, Doctor Strange played a crucial role in the animated Marvel series What If…? and will be a huge part of Spider-Man: No Way Home, which comes out this month. And he’ll finally take center stage again in next year’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
It’s now impossible to think of the MCU without Doctor Strange or Benedict Cumberbatch. And fortunately for fans, it doesn’t seem Cumberbatch has any intentions of hanging up the Cloak of Levitation just yet.
Is Benedict Cumberbatch leaving Marvel after Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness?
With rumors regarding his future in the MCU swirling, Benedict Cumberbatch has opened up about his plans beyond Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. While many MCU mainstays have walked away in recent years—Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., etc.—Cumberbatch revealed to USA Today that he doesn't plan on leaving the character or the MCU behind any time soon. “As long as the character is interesting and challenging and doing fantastic things in the MCU, why not?” Cumberbatch said.
The MCU writers are always finding new ways to reinvent characters and add new dimensions (sometimes, literally) to the universe they’ve established, so there should be plenty more Doctor Strange to come.
