The Noir-est of All the Film Noir Flicks
Beneath a heavy layer of ambiance are a host of consistent attributes that give noir style films their unmistakable feel. This new infographic, by Adam Frost and Melanie Patrick, breaks down those characteristics with a series of examples culled from around 100 classic film noir flicks.
These elements are used to grade the top 20 film noirs, a ranking that awards Double Indemnity the title "noirest" film. And there's also a hierarchy of movies ranked by appearances on critics' lists, in which Double Indemnity once again claims the top spot. Check it out:
