No Fuelin', We're Poolin': Share a Ride Into the Past with this '70s Carpool PSA

Nick Greene

On August 4, 1977, President Jimmy Carter signed The Department of Energy Organization Act into law. The agency was established in the middle of an oil crisis, and one of their first publicity efforts was the "No Fuelin', We're Poolin'" campaign.

"No Fuelin', We're Poolin'" sought to extol the benefits of carpooling, benefits that are eventually seen in this excruciatingly slow-paced Department of Energy PSA. No spoilers, but if you're wondering whether or not a character says, "No fuelin', that's why we're all poolin'" out loud ... they do.
