Dig These Animated Tributes to René Magritte

facebooktwitterreddit

Surrealist artist René Magritte passed away before the invention of the GIF, but it's fun to think what he could do with the format. German illustrator Raphaëlle Martin animated some of Magritte's classics and the results make for a fun new way to enjoy the work of the Belgian painter. Some of the GIF-ified artworks include Golconda, La Légende Dorée, and the iconic Le Fils de l'homme. Martin put his own spin on these GIFs, adding film grain and giving his characters Simpsons-yellow skin. You can see higher quality versions on Martin's website
