Star Wars: Uprising Mobile RPG Adds New Chapter Between Episodes VI and VII

The teasers and trailers for the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens have fans dusting off their lightsabers and Jedi jargon. And though the film's December release date is far, far away, Lucasfilm and Disney are helping to pass the time with a free mobile game for iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, and Android devices. But the game also lends insight into a new period in the official Star Wars timeline: the era between where Return of the Jedi left off and The Force Awakens will begin.
Developed by San Francisco mobile gaming-outfit Kabam, Star Wars: Uprising is "the first mobile role-playing game set immediately after the Battle of Endor, which saw the Death Star II destroyed and the Emperor killed." It transports players to familiar locations like Hoth and Cloud City, but also introduces them to the Anoat sector and beyond, and allows real-time collaboration and maneuvers with other mobile-version Jedi around the world. The game's homepage boasts a variety of design features, challenges, and brand-new material for Star Wars fans to delve into. But, pro tip: Let the Wookiee win.
