Power Nap in the Office Like a Pro With This Desk That Turns Into a Bed

If you’ve ever wanted to pull a George Costanza and catch a few Z’s underneath your desk at work, you’ve probably been dissuaded for many reasons: the hard floor, a lack of linens, and stares from judgmental co-workers, to name a few.
Greek design and architecture firm NL Studio wants to change all that. The firm wants make desk-napping comfortable, convenient, and even stylish with its “1.6 S.M of Life Desk.” The minimalist white workstation measures 2 by 0.8 meters and houses a pillow and a folding mattress beneath the top surface.
According to designer Athanasia Leivaditou, the piece isn’t just for bleary-eyed careerists powering through a tough deadline. It can also be used for relaxing mid-afternoon slumbers and quick power naps alike, and would be equally at home in siesta-loving Spain as it would in workaholic capitals like San Francisco or New York City.
Sadly, the desk is a prototype and can’t be purchased, but creative types might be able to glean inspiration from its design for their own sleep-friendly office creations—after taking a quick nap, of course.
