Sculptures and Bowls Made With Recycled Keys and Coins

Australian artist Michael Moerkerk has only taken one soldering class, and that was 30 years ago. But with a little hard work—and a lot of YouTube videos—he was able to hone his craft. Using keys, coins, and sometimes bottle caps, the artist makes unique soldered sculptures. He started with basic spheres, but has since moved on to more complicated shapes like wine bottles, bowls, and even a woman's torso.
Moerkerk got into this line of work almost accidentally. “Not so long ago, when I was supposed to be cleaning out my shed, I came across some old copper pipe saved from a previous renovation. I cut it up into rings and started making it into spheres. The first ones were a bit rough but once I worked out the technique I got creative," he said.
