Thor's trusty hammer is the stuff of legends—or at least it used to be. In Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), Tony Stark jokes that Mjölnir (myawl-nir), the mighty weapon that only the Norse god is worthy enough to wield, is designed to work with Thor's fingerprints, which is why no other Avenger can lift it. Inspired by that idea, the team behind the YouTube channel Sufficiently Advanced created a replica of Mjölnir using electromagnets and a fingerprint scanner. Then, they hit the streets to give strangers a chance to prove their worthiness.

Spoiler: Everyone who tries to lift the device by the handle is unsuccessful, but one guy at the end figures out a clever trick to bypass the scanner. Watch the video below, which also includes a brief overview of the parts used in the build.
